The length really holds it back; that’s the primary factor in my low rating. It took considerable thought to settle on a score, honestly. It goes on for quite some time, but surprisingly, I didn’t find myself consistently bored or feeling like it was moving slowly. Still, I can't identify anything about it that I particularly appreciated or found enjoyable. Musical films aren’t really my thing, so I expected to dislike this intensely, and yet I didn't. It created a peculiar sensation; the whole experience is quite odd, leaving a strange feeling behind. Fred MacMurray performs reliably as always. Greer Garson (as Cordelia), Tommy Steele (as John), and John Davidson (as Angier) are all passable in their roles. The story they’re involved with is unremarkable—neither good nor bad. *The Happiest Millionaire* is perplexing to me. Perhaps it would have been more appealing if they had trimmed about an hour? It's hard to say.
