Things don’t always go as planned! This is a really good, alluring thriller taking place in Korea during its time under Japanese rule in the 1930s. The story focuses on Sook-Hee (played by Tae Ri Kim), who seems innocent but isn't what she appears, and gets hired to work for Lady Hideko (Kim Min-hee). She lives with her grumpy uncle Kouzuki (Cho Jin-woong) on a large estate and doesn’t require much attention from her new employer. It doesn’t take long before something feels off! Questions arise about her true nature and the involvement of Count (Ha Jung-woo), who is clearly hiding something. As it turns out, there are plans to steal Lady Hideko's money, freedom—even her sanity. What the planners didn’t foresee was how people would react. A connection slowly develops between the two women; a friendship, trust – and even love! What unfolds next...? The film is greatly enhanced by its strong cast who have good chemistry together; it has an interesting plot that combines cunning with playful elements, sensuality with darkness—and it’s visually stunning as well. The characters shift between being appealing, provocative, and sometimes quite unpleasant, but there's always a feeling that justice will prevail. I really liked the ending, and the performances from the two lead actresses are compelling and fascinating to watch. Some scenes might be disturbing for sensitive viewers, but it moves along quickly, is skillfully made, and I completely enjoyed it.
