Sean Penn might have reconsidered his involvement with this unoriginal and formulaic drama. He portrays "Terrier," a marksman whose precision resulted in the death of the Congolese Minister for Mines, triggering a rather lifeless thriller involving Interpol and corporate interests pursuing him. Director Pierre Morel gathered a cast that’s unexpectedly strong; Javier Bardem stands out as the deceptive "Felix." Idris Elba ("Barnes") has limited screen time and contributes minimally—though his presence is more substantial than Ray Winstone's portrayal of "Stanley," who seems better suited to searching for waterfalls. The script contains dialogue that feels simplistic, and the performances are so rigidly staged that even action sequences and jungle settings fail to inject any vitality into the story. I am unfamiliar with Jean-Patrick Manchette’s original novel, but if this adaptation accurately reflects the source material, it's unlikely I will seek it out.
