The movie wasn't terrible, though it felt very familiar given what’s been done before. It's adapted from a book and comes from the director of 'Taken.' This international production unfolds across three countries, beginning and concluding in Congo. The plot follows an assassin who completed a significant assignment in Africa, but years later, attempting to leave that life behind, he finds himself pursued by mysterious individuals. He then sets out to discover who is after him and their motives. Despite the predictable storyline, it was still quite entertaining. However, the narrative suffers from the typical issue of the protagonist escaping harm while others die in his place—a well-worn trope. Sean Penn delivers a solid performance as the lead actor; the action scenes are passable, but the film’s length, exceeding 100 minutes, felt excessive. If you aren't looking for groundbreaking storytelling or spectacular stunts, it will likely suffice, especially if you just want something to watch. It had potential to be better, but I suspect an attempt was made to faithfully recreate a book that is over twenty years old and whose elements have already been incorporated into other films, which explains why it feels dated. While critics were not impressed, it’s more enjoyable than they suggest, although it doesn't quite live up to some of the praise it has received. _6.5/10_
