I really enjoy movies of this kind. *The Guilty*, a film confined to a single setting, often risks losing viewers – yet when executed well, that constraint can create an incredibly captivating experience, and this 2018 production certainly achieves that. While I figured out the direction it was headed, I’ve always maintained that predictability isn't necessarily a flaw; I can still value what a film sets out to accomplish and appreciate seeing the filmmakers succeed. The roughly ninety minutes are completely absorbing, presented exceptionally well with fantastic dialogue, editing, sound design, and acting. Jakob Cedergren delivers an outstanding lead performance. It was truly brilliant! Considering how the story unfolds, the supporting actors don't have a great deal of material to work with, so it’s primarily focused on Cedergren's portrayal – although Jessica Dinnage, Katinka Evers-Jahnsen, and Johan Olsen all make worthwhile contributions through their vocal roles. I’m curious about how the American adaptation turned out. I like Jake Gyllenhaal’s work and believe I saw a photo of him near a red light, which I assume is from the 2021 version. I'm hoping it took inspiration from his 2011 film *Source Code*, which I love, but I’ll have to watch it eventually. Regardless, I would strongly suggest checking this one out!
