It's true that "The Guardian" is constructed competently and provides some entertainment value, but in the end, it doesn’t quite live up to expectations. There’s nothing particularly suspenseful about watching it; you won't find yourself on edge or gripped by fear because the storyline has become so familiar. From the beginning, it’s clear that neither the young couple nor their baby are in any real danger, and the film relies on a predictable sequence of horror tropes—nightmares, jump scares, and other established techniques—that have been used repeatedly before. The overall effect is rather underwhelming, which explains why even viewers who tend to be easily frightened won’t find much to thrill them. It feels like we're simply going through the motions of a standard horror movie.
