I have a weakness for stories set in snowy landscapes, so I found this film just as enjoyable as the initial one from 2009. It seems that since then, “Gruffalo” has gained a younger audience. There's now a child involved, and she’s been cautioned by her father to stay out of the woods alone because of the mouse! The narrative takes a slight turn compared to the original; this brave young girl ventures into the forest on a cold night and meets the fox, the owl who isn’t very bright, and the cunning snake. Her eventual meeting with the mouse? Let's just say our long-eared companion hasn't diminished in imaginative power! The animation is appealing and rich, and the snow creates an excellent backdrop for the vibrant and amusing visuals. I'm not convinced another installment was necessary, but this provides a pleasant half hour of entertainment and is simple to watch for both kids and adults.
