Jolly Hockey Sticks Part 4. This fourth installment in the St. Trinian’s series marks the first time color film was used, and also seems to be where the creative spark began to fade. Drawing from Ronald Searle's depictions of unruly schoolgirls, this story borrows elements from the infamous Great Train Robbery that occurred in the 1960s. George Cole returns as a familiar face, while Dora Bryan and Frankie Howerd join the cast, seemingly intended to strengthen the performances. The film isn’t necessarily poor; actually, the final section, which involves various train-related events, is quite entertaining. However, it gives off an impression of exhaustion, lacking the boldness of earlier entries, as if those involved were playing it safe in pursuit of a successful run at the box office—which they ultimately achieved. The quick cutting feels somewhat manipulative, and Howerd’s talent isn't utilized well – is he simply going through the motions? Bryan does provide some worthwhile moments, and the girls are lively and mischievous. It's agreeable enough for those with an interest in this kind of thing, even though it’s likely to be completely forgotten by the time the end arrives. 6/10
