This adaptation of the well-known story goes quite far with its depiction, and though it occasionally feels overblown and even crude, it manages to capture the book’s initial commentary on the extravagance of that era. The performers were **excellent**, and the film adhered to the novel's essence in the key areas. I thought the contemporary music choices didn't always work well, but there were a few instances where they were perfectly done.
