Those who believe the CIA operates in any positive light ought to examine its historical record closely, it seems to me. Aside from the expected attempt to portray this unpleasant three-letter agency as morally upright, there isn’t much substance here. It's a standard, rather blunt, harsh, and pessimistic American action movie. The explanations are well-crafted, which is necessary because that’s about all there is to appreciate, from what I can tell. It’s immediately engaging but equally easy to dismiss. If you’re after uncomplicated action and don't mind the fairly obvious themes, it provides a passable viewing experience.
