The Russo Brothers deliver a movie brimming with energetic, over-the-top action sequences in "The Gray Man," and that alone will likely keep most viewers engaged despite the screenplay feeling somewhat familiar and straightforward. While the camera work can sometimes be distracting and detract from the excellent fight scenes, these moments don’t linger for long. Beyond the technical strengths, the film's appeal is largely due to the strong performances of a cast with undeniable chemistry. Ryan Gosling proves he’s capable in an action hero role, Chris Evans seems to relish playing a villain with a distinct personality, and Ana de Armas makes a memorable impression as a formidable supporting character. Jessica Henwick, however, feels shortchanged; she's proven herself worthy of more substantial parts. It's best experienced on the big screen if you can manage it. Rating: B
