_The Gray Man_ features some striking action set pieces, yet ultimately proves to be a disappointing moviegoing experience. The film’s action is frequently weighed down by clumsy editing and inadequate lighting that undermines any merits it might have had. While the performers do their best with what they're given, it isn’t sufficient to make the movie enjoyable. Ana de Armas feels largely inconsequential except for moments involving tranquilizer darts being fired into men’s posteriors and a few rocket launcher scenes. The film is drawn out and slow-paced, delivering punches, kicks, and kills that fail to feel truly impactful; _The Gray Man_ arrives with little promise and frequently misses opportunities, much like Ryan Gosling chewing gum.
