I’ve watched this movie twice now, and it doesn’t quite reach classic status for me, but it remains a pleasant family film with appealing visuals and a good ensemble cast. There's considerable talent involved, notably Spielberg as both story contributor and producer, Chris Columbus writing the screenplay, and Richard Donner in the director’s chair. As someone who lives in Oregon, I appreciated that filming took place in Astoria. **3.5/5**
