This film represents the pinnacle of cinematic achievement. It’s an exceptional work from the young and gifted Francis Ford Coppola, centering on a Mafia family and their conflicts; the narrative is flawlessly executed, and the performances are generally strong, although Thalia Shire (the director's sister) occasionally delivers a performance that feels somewhat exaggerated. The 1970s truly marked a golden age for Hollywood cinema.
