The performances are solid, particularly from Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep, and the younger actors do a decent job, but the film lacks any real plot. This particular take on a bleak, emotionless future isn’t exactly new territory in books or movies, yet here it feels overly basic and ultimately unfulfilling. The concept had considerably more substance in 'A Brave New World,' to say nothing of Equilibrium, which managed to pack in more material. After enduring the ninety minutes, I was left with a disappointing sense that the director rushed from the setup to the ending without any meaningful development along the way. It's truly not worth investing the time.
