Unexpected weather forces a varied collection of travelers to spend the night at an isolated train station located in the countryside. Just before departing, the station master shares with them a local legend about a ghostly train said to run on the nearby abandoned track after dark. He quickly returns and then unexpectedly passes away – leading to a rather showy puzzle as those left behind try to figure out what happened. Kathleen Harrison delivers a decent performance in her role as the alcoholic "Miss Bourne," and Raymond Huntley is also acceptable as "Price." However, most of the other actors seem unable to stand out against Arthur Askey’s overpowering presence, who, it must be said, irritates both his fellow passengers and viewers alike. I have a feeling that people who like this movie are likely admirers of his stage-style comedy; personally, I didn't find it very effective, and what had the potential to be an amusing ghost story turned out to be rather underwhelming.
