It’s not bad at all. Stephen Dorff is someone I really like—he’s definitely among my favorites, though there are many—so seeing him as a child here was something of an experience. He does a solid job; it's not quite on the level of Elijah Wood’s performances, but he’s perfectly acceptable in the main role. The pacing is a little slow, but there are some interesting concepts at play, and I imagine if I had seen this as a child, I would have enjoyed it even more, possibly finding it frightening because, despite having a mostly young cast, it's quite dark and avoids being overly silly. I recently rewatched *Critters* and didn’t think it aged well in 2017, but this one has stood up to the test of time pretty well.
