I had the chance to see "The Front Room," featuring Brandy Norwood in what feels like a comeback for her in thrillers and horror films, recalling “I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.” The story follows a disturbing path centered on an unstable mother-in-law who insists she’s acting under religious conviction, though it's clear she is not of sound mind. Even with its limited resources and some unusual writing choices, "The Front Room" manages to be pretty engaging as you observe the unsettling actions this woman takes toward the main character, particularly after a baby arrives. The way she carries herself—her laughter, her words—is so off-putting that it’s easy to feel compelled to step in and have her taken into custody. It's probably not something I would call a classic, but "The Front Room" isn’t without its positives either. It delivers a strange and enjoyable time, demonstrating just how far the mother-in-law’s mental instability goes.
