It's genuinely enjoyable to watch "The Freshman," because it had the potential to be just a fleeting amusement built on the intriguing notion of seeing Marlon Brando revisit his celebrated role as Don Vito Corleone, but this time purely for comedic effect. That concept alone would have quickly run its course, so thankfully there’s a substantial and well-crafted narrative that keeps things interesting, along with humor that becomes increasingly delightful as Clark Kellogg (Matthew Broderick) gets further entangled in a perilous situation.
