I really had hoped for something different; this was a considerable letdown. My expectation was for an exciting science fiction movie involving time travel and romance, similar to many recent releases in that genre. That’s not what I got at all. While Rachel Weisz and Hugh Jackman both deliver strong performances, *The Fountain* felt too experimental and like an independent film—not really my taste.
