It’s remarkable how consistently Jackie Chan delivers. The somberness of _The Foreigner_ surprisingly suits him, though his character feels somewhat awkwardly inserted into the story. I've heard the film is adapted from a book called _The Chinaman_, and I imagine the narrative there is similar to what we see onscreen. The Troubles-inspired political drama dominates most of the movie’s length, and the Action/Revenge Thriller aspects almost feel like someone realized during production that they could include Jackie Chan and hastily created a part for him. I'm certain that’s not how it happened, but that’s the impression it gives; while the Action/Revenge Thriller portions are the strongest aspect of the movie, their lack of integration detracts from the overall experience. It’s still worth seeing if you enjoy Jackie Chan’s work. _Final rating:★★½ - There was a lot I liked about it, but ultimately it didn't quite gel._
