It felt like something I really needed to experience !!!! Can people who love the original John Carpenter film truly be impartial when considering this remake? Can a contemporary audience, accustomed to Gorno and Slasher horror, offer an unbiased perspective either? I believe that as someone in middle age, I’m capable of being quite objective and giving it a fair rating. Keeping that in mind, I freely acknowledge belonging to both groups mentioned earlier. The concept seemed ill-advised from the start, but it wasn't unexpected given that mainstream cinema had seemingly exhausted its supply of good movie ideas at this point. It was genuinely disappointing, and I put off watching it for quite some time, but John Carpenter’s involvement always kept my curiosity piqued; it was inevitable that I would eventually check it out. The direction is weak, the acting is terrible—there's even a scene with four people on a boat (two men and two women) where the performances are so awful you have to wonder if those actors will ever work again! The film lacks any suspense, scares, and most importantly, has an ending that’s both dull and offensive. I’m only giving it 2/10 because of the sound mix. It's a truly dreadful creation.
