The Flash delivers strong performances—Sasha Calle’s portrayal of Supergirl is captivating—along with impressive displays of “super-speed” and several unexpectedly funny instances. What elevates this film beyond a typical action spectacle are the thoughtful connections between Barry Allen's journey, the difficult emotional questions about dealing with past trauma, and the reappearance of Danny Elfman’s familiar Batman score. These elements combine to create a genuinely fulfilling and sentimental experience, even though it falls back on expected plot structures at times. Unfortunately, the quality of the visual effects fluctuates noticeably, and the reliance on substandard digital recreations proves to be a significant detriment, pulling focus from the story.
