The First Omen isn’t without its problems in terms of storytelling, and the final resolution feels somewhat restrained, but seeing it in a theater is worthwhile because of the disturbing practical effects, the unsettling and carefully created mood, and Nell Tiger Free's remarkable and captivating performance. Director Arkasha Stevenson makes a strong impression with this technically excellent film, which surpasses all previous entries except for the initial movie. Allow yourself to be lured in and accept the presence of embodied wickedness; it’s an experience you’ll likely appreciate. Rating: B-
