It’s a worthwhile film that I’d happily revisit and suggest, particularly to those who enjoy slashers. The premise of being “trapped in a movie” immediately grabbed my attention. I'm drawn to survival scenarios—whether they are believable or not—and have been looking for something like this, specifically "trapped in a movie" rather than "trapped in a video game." My anticipation was perhaps too high, but the actors helped balance things out somewhat. The film features some well-known performers from 2015: Thomas Middleditch ("Silicon Valley"), Malin Akerman ("Watchmen"), Adam Devine ("Pitch Perfect"), Alia Shawkat ("Arrested Development"), and Chloe Bridges ("Pretty Little Liars"). I’m not generally a fan of most of them, but Taissa Farmiga really stood out and carried the film. Because they're stuck inside a slasher movie, there are unavoidable clichés, and an abundance of meta-commentary that at times dominates the narrative—though this is presented as part of their survival tactics. The deaths are sometimes creative, while others come across more humorous than compelling. Interestingly, the movie manages to be both predictable and original in ways that make it difficult to talk about without giving too much away. If you're a slasher fan who appreciates conversations *about* slasher movies, this one is likely to appeal to you.
