It's a funny spoof of slasher movies from the eighties, particularly films like Friday the 13th. The plot centers on five teenagers who find themselves transported into a fake 1986 horror film titled "Camp Bloodbath." The teen heroine’s mother, who passed away early (played by Malin Akerman), appears in the movie and she gets to reconnect with her daughter, though as a younger version of herself. Even though this 2015 production isn't meant to be taken seriously, it provides some amusement, particularly for those acquainted with the slasher genre. What stands out most is its warmth; you can sense the close bond between mother and daughter. It’s good to see Nina Dobrev again—she’s one of the more attractive actors in the film—but Angela Trimbur as the ditzy Tina steals the show. The movie has a running time of 1 hour, 28 minutes and was filmed in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with some additional work done in Los Angeles. GRADE: B-
