It's odd that this entry is titled "The Final Destination" rather than “Final Destination 4.” It seemed like they thought this might be the last film, but given that a fifth one is being released on Blu-ray, that turned out to be incorrect. I was pleasantly surprised by it. Many people believe the second, third, and fourth films were weaker compared to the first, and that the series didn’t regain its momentum until the fifth installment. I disagree with that assessment. This film is considerably better than the third one. If you dislike gory horror movies, then this probably isn't for you—but why would you watch it otherwise? I enjoy these kinds of films, so I found it quite satisfying. The special effects were a noticeable improvement over the previous movie and weren’t as goofy as they sometimes were in the third film. I also appreciated the ending; it felt like a classic horror movie conclusion with that neat touch using x-ray imagery.
