The initial scene, hinting at a strange, almost homoerotic dynamic, establishes this as a story about a troubled family residing in a modern, environmentally conscious home set against the Welsh countryside. One son, "Gweirydd" (played by Sion Alun Davies), is shown wearing triathlon gear and occupied with something private while his brother “Guto” (Steffan Cennydd) observes him from inside. Guto then goes to greet "Cadi" (Annes Elwy), a local girl brought in by their mother to assist with a dinner party. The family’s wealth stems from selling mineral rights to a company led by the unpleasant "Euros" (Rhodri Meilir), and the elaborate dinner is intended to persuade their neighbor, "Mair" (Lisa Palfrey), to grant similar access to her land. An accident occurs when “Guto's” axe breaks while he’s chopping wood, cutting his foot – a prelude to a growing number of odd incidents affecting everyone involved. It becomes clear that "Cadi," who has very little to say, is more complex than she initially appears. What follows is a disturbing “feast” that could easily ruin your appetite. The gore is considerable, and surprisingly, the special effects are impressive given what was likely a limited budget. However, the performances aren't particularly strong, and once the underlying meaning becomes apparent, the narrative feels awkwardly symbolic. Combining mythology with themes of environmental exploitation and drawing on ideas from the seven deadly sins leads to an ending that’s chaotic – in every possible way. It seems like something made for television, potentially suitable for viewing on a gloomy winter night.
