I watched this movie twice because I really enjoyed it. The Fare, filmed in 2019 and distributed by Epic Pictures Group and Dread Presents, was directed by DC Hamilton and has a visual style that shifts between black and white and color, feeling like a noir film or an episode of the Twilight Zone. It explores what might happen if the ferryman suddenly became aware of his role, having no memory of how he got there, and then had to deal with that realization. The filmmakers took on a challenge—something I understand many filmmakers aspire to—which was making a movie primarily in one location, and for the most part, this film does just that, aside from the flashbacks showing the life he couldn’t recall. Both actors gave excellent performances; Gino Anthony Pesi and Brinna Kelly had great chemistry together. I could easily believe that Gino, as Harrison, would be a friendly taxi driver—you often hope you can chat with your driver on the way to your destination. And the fact that his character eventually accepted what he was, without me giving away any details, makes this a very unique film and perspective, which I certainly recommend. It’s definitely different. Give it a look yourself; I was entertained by the performances and the otherworldly atmosphere. DC Hamilton really went above and beyond. This review shouldn't stop you from watching—go see it and then tell me I’m wrong! There’s an element of mystery that lingers until the very end, so just watch and wait for it to unfold.
