The film, adapted from a book about the German royal family, the Kaisers, during World War II, really resonated with me, even though it takes liberties with reality. Set against the backdrop of Nazi Germany’s invasion of Europe, the story centers on an officer tasked with safeguarding the Kaiser, presumably from spies. As he carries out his assignment, we're shown what happened, culminating in a reveal at the film’s conclusion. The surprise wasn’t particularly well-timed or suspenseful; it felt more like a simple explanation than a carefully crafted plot point. What stood out was its direct storytelling style, although there were moments of tension. It turned out to be an enjoyable drama—I wasn't sure if I should anticipate a thriller or romance, but the film blended elements of both effectively. Jai and Lily James gave good performances, but Christopher Plummer truly impressed me; his presence elevated the entire production. The direction was solid, especially considering it came from someone relatively new to filmmaking. It’s a welcome addition to films about World War II. There's one explicit scene that prevents it from being suitable for all audiences. I would recommend this if you are interested in seeing it! _7.5/10_
