Mahalia Belo appears to be a director with potential, though "The End We Start From" doesn't quite live up to its possibilities. It has a clear focus and uses maternal imagery effectively, aided by Susie Lavelle’s cinematography that creates a certain mood. Jodie Comer and Katherine Waterston deliver strong performances, but the film would have benefited from delving deeper into the climate disaster it introduces as a plot device. The ending felt like a missed opportunity to leave a stronger impression. Rating: C+
