After a cartoonish meeting involving Hitler, someone proposes the Nazis abduct Winston Churchill. Admiral Canaris, who heads intelligence, believes this is risky, although Himmler wants the possibility explored. Consequently, the admiral asks "Radl" to locate an individual capable of organizing a team for the mission. We’ve previously encountered “Col. Steiner” and know he operates outside established norms, so "Radl" makes an agreement with him that will complete the assignment while preventing "Steiner's" execution. The Prime Minister is expected to visit a secluded estate close to Norfolk’s coastline, providing them with an opportunity. The soldiers pose as British troops and collaborate with local residents while preparing their scheme. However, an unforeseen incident exposes their true identities to the villagers, escalating matters considerably. Will the villagers manage to alert authorities? Michael Caine performs adequately in this production, and Donald Sutherland also does a decent job portraying the IRA member who’s willing to do almost anything to see Britain defeated in the war; however, most of the other actors fail to make an impression—particularly Jenny Agutter as "Molly," who seems rather subdued, and Jean Marsh, whose casting feels odd. Quayle, Duvall, and Pleasence have limited screen time, and while the ending isn’t entirely predictable, it still can't inject much excitement into this overly complicated and improbable narrative. It is reasonably entertaining, largely thanks to Caine's presence, but ultimately falls short of its potential.
