I’ve been exploring films based on screenplays that were once considered unproducible, and the results have been mixed—mostly not great. This one falls into that category, and I'm still not sure about it. The narrative started out reasonably well, but lost its way entirely once a key piece of information was revealed. That plot development felt jarringly out of place; it resembled something you’d see in a contemporary film, only transplanted to the latter half of the 1800s. The weakest aspect was certainly the story itself, though the acting was commendable. Liam Hemsworth gave a good performance, and Woody Harrelson wasn't bad either, although his character’s demeanor made it difficult to connect with him, as did Alice Braga’s portrayal. The film began promisingly but failed to build on that momentum or deliver a satisfying resolution. If you’re seeking an engaging western with a strong plot, this isn't it. It’s probably not worth watching solely for the actors’ efforts. I can’t bring myself to recommend it based on its merits, although different films appeal to different people, so perhaps some viewers will find it more enjoyable than I did. _4/10_
