"The Dream Team" manages to be consistently amusing and moves along nicely until its final moments. It draws considerable humor from a straightforward premise, an idea apparently influenced by the fishing trip scene in Ken Kesey’s "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest." Like the 1962 book, this is an officially approved project, though it received approval with some hesitation from those in charge at Cedarbrook Psychiatric Hospital. There was a risk that the movie might have simply been a superficial comedy built around an interesting concept that wasn’t explored to its full extent; thankfully, that isn't what happens, and instead, the film pleasantly defies that expectation.
