The presence of actors like Shatner, Borgnine, Lupino, along with Keenan Wynn, Tom Skerritt and Eddie Albert suggested a potentially worthwhile horror movie experience. Unfortunately, that isn’t what this film delivers; it’s truly awful. The story centers around an old cult leader who was executed by the townspeople and subsequently swore revenge on their families. Using a mystical "Book of Blood Contracts," he reappears after many years to fulfill his promise, with the unusual ability to liquefy his victims. The makeup effects are extensive; there's a wide range of colors and materials used as he causes destruction before Eddie Albert, playing “Dr. Richards,” begins devising a plan to stop this resurrected embodiment of wickedness (Ernest Borgnine). The musical score is overpowering and distracting, and the poor writing is only surpassed by the exaggerated performances from the cast; I can only imagine how much alcohol was needed during production. It's best to skip this one.
