This movie feels like a real slog through the material for everyone involved. Peter Cushing portrays a menacing baron residing in a Greek castle as young people begin to disappear. A priest, played by Donald Pleasance, quickly starts investigating and, along with Kostas Karagiorgis, uncovers what seems to be a group of pagan worshippers devoted to a minotaur. It's somewhat surprising to see Cushing taking on such an overtly villainous role, and the film might have been improved if his presence was more substantial. However, it ultimately feels too by-the-numbers – there’s plenty of screaming, some nudity that seems excessive, and copious amounts of what looks like tomato sauce—all without the distinctive flair associated with Hammer films. It's still acceptable viewing for fans of this type of movie, though, and there's a remarkably out-of-place song at the very end.
