It takes something special to be what I am, and a lot of hardship got me here. If you think you can step into my shoes, you’re mistaken. The cast includes Jack Nicholson, Matt Damon, Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Wahlberg, Martin Sheen, Ray Winstone, Vera Farmiga, Anthony Anderson, Mark Rolston and Alec Baldwin. Howard Shore composed the music, and Michael Ballhaus was in charge of cinematography. The story involves an Irish gang operating in South Boston that discovers there’s someone within their ranks who is betraying them, while the police are also dealing with a mole among their own officers—and both sides are trying to expose each other. This is Martin Scorsese's adaptation of the Hong Kong film *Infernal Affairs* (2002), and it earned him his first Academy Award for Best Director. It’s an exciting movie, full of tension and intensity; a psychological crime story centered on two men living double lives that are pulling them toward disaster. The violent moments hit hard, and the whole time you feel a sense of unease as the plot unfolds. There are some things about it that felt a bit forced, but with such a consistently good performance from everyone involved, along with excellent music and a director back in his element, *The Departed* is definitely worth seeing. 8.5/10
