The preacher Moses (Marchánt Davis) operates a Miami mission alongside his wife Venus (Danielle Brooks), working to maintain order while facing financial difficulties. He becomes involved in an elaborate scheme orchestrated by the FBI, designed to expose some amateur revolutionaries, and crucially, he remains largely unaware of what's happening. I think that’s actually a good thing for how this unfolds. It made me wonder where Eddie Murphy or Danny Glover might have fit in. The movie moves along acceptably, but the satirical elements are overshadowed by a desire to gain approval from those who oppose authority, which diminishes their impact and occasionally pushes the humor into being quite crude. I don’t know as much about Chris Morris's other projects as some people do, but maybe that allowed me to view this more fairly. I’m not convinced it even warrants a rating of 1½ Lions.
