It's easy to imagine that people who reject the reality of climate change would dislike this film. It would be unfortunate if someone’s personal beliefs stopped them from enjoying a movie just because it presents ideas different from their own. For example, despite not being religious myself, I’ve still found enjoyment in films centered on faith. While I strongly support science, I understand that science fiction can occasionally bend the rules and take creative shortcuts, and if I like something, I'm willing to accept those changes. It seems many people simply react negatively to anything they disagree with. I did find this movie very enjoyable, mainly because I appreciate disaster-themed special effects and extreme weather events on screen. The plot and dialogue didn’t strike me as poorly written, unlike what some other viewers have said. I don't go to fictional movies expecting a deep dive into climate change; there are plenty of news reports and documentaries for that purpose. The visual effects were impressive enough, and—yes — moments like the sudden freezing descent from the atmosphere are probably pretty unrealistic, but they help keep the story moving quickly. The depiction of Mexico’s fate at the end felt somewhat obvious in its political messaging, but I don't tend to be overly sensitive about those kinds of things, so it didn't bother me. Basically: just give me something entertaining. And this film succeeded in that regard.
