I recently viewed this movie, released five years prior. It’s a joint US-Russian production set entirely within Moscow. The premise involves an alien invasion, but it distinguishes itself from comparable films by omitting explanations; instead, it concentrates on the devastation—a sense of impending doom. Consequently, the narrative centers around survival. Following the arrival of a peculiar electric mist descending from the sky and causing people to disintegrate, a collection of Americans present in Moscow for various purposes band together. The film then follows their efforts to devise a plan and determine if they can escape this situation safely. I imagine some viewers will find enjoyment in it; it’s not entirely unpleasant, particularly if you don't anticipate a truly exceptional work. I think seeing it in digital 3D would have enhanced the experience, though even watching it normally isn’t terrible. The story had unexpected developments, especially concerning the characters, but the ultimate resolution was somewhat predictable. They opted for an open ending, and the reason for that became apparent. I appreciated the acting as a whole—not necessarily from any single performer—but the ensemble cast, including the Russian actors, did well. The film’s brevity contributed to its brisk pace. The visuals were acceptable, particularly the depiction of the electric mist, but I was let down by the lack of extended alien appearances beyond brief glimpses during combat scenes. Despite finding it enjoyable, I can't fully endorse it because it seems destined for mediocrity—a category where many viewers will likely be dissatisfied due to the film’s failure to provide complete explanations. _4/10_
