The film introduces Mark Stevens as "Brad Galt," a private investigator recently relocated to New York City, attempting to rebuild his life following incarceration and betrayal by his former colleague, “Jardine” (Kurt Kreuger). An unexpected visit from police officer "Reeves" (Reed Hadley) immediately puts him on guard, quickly revealing that someone intends to harm him. With the assistance of his secretary, "Kathleen" (Lucille Ball)—who proves surprisingly adept at investigation—they resolve to identify their adversary before he succeeds. The film moves along at a reasonable speed as a crime thriller. Lucille Ball performs admirably and establishes a good rapport with Stevens, who is portrayed as handsome and youthful. Appearances by Clifton Webb and his associate William Bendix also add some interest to the narrative, though it doesn't always fully captivate. While the runtime feels somewhat extended, it remains an enjoyable viewing experience.
