It's obvious what film this is—The Color out of Space—and Lovecraft’s name appears among the credited writers. This adaptation works well, managing to portray the story in a more relatable way than it might have been otherwise. I found the actors well-chosen and the direction handled skillfully. Certain visual effects seemed overly fluid for my liking, but they still managed to create an unsettling atmosphere. The film isn’t without its problems, however, and I consider this version among the stronger interpretations of the source material; it succeeds in being genuinely disturbing, which is a real pleasure.
