It shares more qualities with something like 'Morbius' than 'The Crow' does. And that’s to say: A: I'm not kidding about that—it really gave off a similar feeling for quite some time, reminiscent of that 'Sony's Spider-Man Universe' movie. B: It wasn’t as harsh an assessment as it might seem because I didn’t hate the Jared Leto film nearly as much as many people did (I’m not saying it was good, though). However, this reimagining of the well-regarded 1994 film isn't particularly impressive, unfortunately. It almost feels like a completely separate project; they could have changed just a few small details and created an entirely new movie, really. I noticed that the rhythm felt noticeably awkward, and the villain(s) seemed very unremarkable throughout. I did find some things to appreciate. Bill Skarsgård and FKA Twigs work well together—there was a good sense of chemistry between them, and both delivered acceptable performances. The soundtrack is pretty good, while a few of the deaths are inventive and presented effectively on screen. Overall, I can’t recommend it; no copyright infringement intended, Mr. Siskel and Mr. Ebert.
