I must say, I found this film quite disappointing. It resembles an early version of "Terminator," centering around John David Washington’s character, “Joshua,” who is tasked with finding and eliminating a powerful weapon created by artificial intelligence. This AI was initially designed to protect humanity but ultimately reversed its role, leading to robots taking control of the planet. The premise feels very familiar. While Gemma Chan has a few brief appearances, and Allison Janney delivers an uncharacteristic performance as “Col. Howell” – with a noticeably military-style haircut – her character's actions seem hard to believe. The person they’re trying to destroy is "Alphie" (Madeleine Yuna Voyles), who notably has a large opening on the side of its head. Essentially, it treads ground that’s already been covered extensively. Although the narrative does attempt to incorporate elements of humanity and emotional depth as it unfolds, it ultimately feels like something I've experienced before; it evokes the feeling of having a Will Smith-signed "Terminator" shirt. The film maintains a decent pace with plenty of action sequences involving fireworks, blasts, and laser beams, but the plot is weak and predictable, and the ending could probably have been conceived in just about ten minutes. It likely had a substantial budget, yet it’s ultimately unremarkable and easily forgotten.
