This film, "The Conversation," defies expectations—and it's truly excellent, coming remarkably close to perfection. It shares more in common with Antonioni’s “Blow” than it does with DePalma’s work, and a pervasive feeling of unease permeates the entire movie, largely thanks to Gene Hackman’s intense and somber portrayal. What stands out most is the surprising third act—something I won't reveal anything about. Despite the middle section perhaps not being as fully developed, "The Conversation" remains an outstanding film and ranks among Francis Ford Coppola’s finest achievements.
