It’s hard to avoid noticing how much _The Convent_ borrows from _Night of the Demons_, so much so that it feels like a direct copy except for one character who appears only at the very start and end. I suppose that doesn't automatically make it terrible; I am fond of _Night of the Demons_, so taking inspiration from it isn’t inherently a flaw. However, if you're going to borrow the entire premise, perhaps some other elements could have been altered too. Even something simple like giving the creatures a different appearance than in _Night of the Demons_ might have made it easier to accept as an original work—though I imagine that was beyond reach. Despite all this, I did still find myself enjoying parts of it. Final rating:★★½ - There were aspects I liked, but ultimately it didn't quite come together.
