It seems Chris Pine needed work, and this uninspired project likely came about because of financial considerations. He portrays "Harper," an ex-American Special Forces soldier struggling to make ends meet, who signs on for a lucrative assignment in Germany alongside some old comrades, with Kiefer Sutherland ("Rusty") overseeing things. Predictably, things fall apart, and the audience is subjected to standard chase sequences as he attempts to return home and confront those who’ve wronged him. The film isn't offensively bad, but it feels entirely formulaic. There’s nothing fresh about it; the storyline is painfully obvious, with the villain’s identity apparent from early on, and while the action might provide some amusement, every fight scene carries a disheartening sense of what will happen next. It takes an extended period to gain any momentum, which doesn't improve matters, as the entire story could realistically be trimmed down into a respectable fifty-minute action movie. It’s a serviceable television film that I suspect even its creators have forgotten about by now.
