The Contractor feels like just another standard action movie, relying on a plot pulled straight from familiar Hollywood templates and offering little in the way of originality or even substantial enjoyment. Chris Pine appears to be the well-known actor brought in to boost what’s been seen many times before, and his performance alongside Ben Foster's presence helps keep Tarek Saleh’s film afloat for a while. Despite some exciting action set pieces and occasional intriguing scenes, the movie is unable to break free from its restrictive framework. Ultimately, it seems destined to quickly disappear once audiences have finished watching it. Rating: C-
