This follow-up is quite good, and I’m thinking of watching it again before the next installment; I may have even enjoyed this one just a bit more than the first. It delivers some effective frightening moments alongside a genuine emotional core, particularly in the connection between Ed and Lorraine, portrayed exceptionally well by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. James Wan's direction is once again skillful, showcasing a particular approach that’s been absent from other entries within 'The Conjuring Universe,' even if the storylines themselves weren't always strong enough to carry things completely. **4.0/5**
