I’m awarding this one slightly higher marks compared to the initial installment. On its own, as a horror movie, it's well-crafted, though it leans heavily on familiar haunted house conventions and feels somewhat foreseeable. However, it surpasses the first film because it presents a more unified narrative; for instance, the recurring "monster" actually contributes meaningfully to the plot, unlike Annabelle in the previous one, who felt inserted arbitrarily and served as little more than an interruption. The fundamental reason I can’t give this movie a higher rating comes down to the fact that it centers on the Warrens, individuals who exploited vulnerable people. This aspect is acknowledged briefly, but largely framed within a narrative where those skeptical of them are portrayed as unkind and unreasonable. It's certainly a skillfully produced horror film, an improvement over the earlier one, even if it’s somewhat predictable; just don’t consider it to be based on actual events. View it with considerable skepticism.
